😎☃️🥶

😎 = Fri-YAY is the calm before the next series of winter storms. As of the 9 o’clock hour Friday Morning, many of us were already above freezing. Brief January Thaw coming today and Saturday. Some could climb into the lower 50s Friday afternoon.

☃️ = The clouds will quickly increase later today and tonight there could be some periods of sleet or even SN❄️W, mostly frozen precip. will fall north and east of the Tri-Cities across the High Country. Most of the TRI will see a chilly, soggy Saturday. Now just in time for Dolly Parton‘s birthday, snowflakes will be flying across much of the Tennessee Valley and especially Northeast Tennessee as the Polar Vortex dives across the GREAT LAKES into early next week.

This will send wind chill factors below zero at times Sunday night through Tuesday morning as life-threatening cold dives across much of the South, don’t be surprised to see SN❄️W in the air as early as Sunday morning on your way out to church. Allow yourself extra time to your destination on Sunday as some squalls could be moderate to locally heavy especially in those ‘usual spots’.  Even the TRI could pick up a coating to an inch or more wherever those wrap around bands set up.

🥶 = A piece of the Polar Vortex will send a long wave trough all the way down to the Sunshine State. What we know concerning the potential of a winter storm is this. Yes, the cold air will be in place. Yes, a Low will form over the Gulf. However, the past 36 hour model data has been suggesting the majority of SN❄️WY weather will stay along the Gulf to the Carolina coast. Much further south and east than usual… We are still about 5 days from this forming so yes there is time for it to give us more impacts locally, depending on strength and a bit closer track to the coast would spill moisture into our neck of the woods similar to last Friday. Count on Joe Knows to track the latest and bring it to you!

Average High in the TRI: 46° and Average Low: 26°. When You Need To Know: #JoeKnowsSNOW #TNwx #VAwx #NCwx #snOMG #BrrrAlert #JoeKnowsWX #AppalachainStrong
