~M❄️RE SN❄️W, J❄️E?!?
5am WEDNESDAY UPDATE — What To Expect:
Another Arctic C🥶LD front slams into the TRI this afternoon, bringing gusty winds (upwards of nearly 40+ MPH at times in the TRI and over 50 MPH gusts at times near the TN/NC border / wind prone areas), plunging temps (after an early high of nearly 50°), and yes — M❄️RE SN❄️W showers behind it.
A strong northwestly flow kicks in Wednesday evening into early Thursday, and that's usually good for SN❄️W showers and a few snow squalls across the eastern half of Kentucky, SW VA, and into the higher terrain of east TN. If you look closely on the map, you can see a plume of lake-enhanced SN❄️W coming from Lake Michigan into the Appalachian Mountains.
TIMING — Precip. (mostly light rain) moves into the TRI between 2-4pm, changing over to all SN❄️W this evening. This will mostly be another all SN❄️W event for the mountains beginning early this afternoon.
Joe Knows encourages you to be off the roads by this evening where a Winter Weather Advisory is in place for Unicoi, Carter and Johnson Counties. SN❄️W tapers off Thursday morning, but highs Thursday afternoon will struggle to get above freezing for many of us…
TOTALS — Those that get in on the squalls could see a coating to 1” in the TRI, lower terrain of Unicoi, Carter and Johnson 1”-3” and western facing slopes 3”-6” (usual spots) higher totals caused by drifts are possible, thanks to the gusty winds.
But wait there’s M❄️RE …
The SN❄️W is waiting for more again — Yet another disturbance will bring our third round of SN❄️W this week Thursday night into Friday morning. ☃️
Show of “💙’s” = Who’s ready for M❄️RE SN❄️W?!
