J❄️E’S 4-DAY EMOJI 4-Cast Features: 🛷

SN❄️W ST❄️RMS 2 MAIN FACTORS:

1) Heavy Accumulation

2) Arctic C🥶LD Air!

⚠️Expect SN❄️W to develop area wide late morning/early afternoon. The SN❄️W will start to accumulate as early as this afternoon. TDOT is asking you to stay off the roads during the storm to allow crews to keep them clear, unless it’s an emergency.⚠️

#Brrricane: SN❄️W will intensify with bursts of locally heavy snowfall expected as we go through the evening hours. Gusty winds will create blowing and drifting snows into your Saturday. Blizzard-like conditions develop in the mountains tonight into Saturday with gusts over 40 MPH at times. Visibility will be dangerously low this evening. And while it will be a dry snow it will add up quickly with total accumulation still expected to be around a half foot to 10” east of I-81; Johnson City, TN that includes you! Mountains along the TN/NC border could pick up a foot or more; Carver’s Gap, Unaka Mtn. & Mt. LeConte; (3”-6”+ on the west side of I-81, Kingsport to Rogersville).

#BrrrAlert: The REC🥶RD C🥶LD High on Saturday is 19° set back in 1966, if the TRI drops below 19° at midnight we will break this record as highs will be stuck in the mid to upper teens Saturday. Wind chills in the TRI could dip below zero at times this weekend and dive to -20° in the mountains, even colder up-top, like Mt. Mitchell and Mt. LeConte. We likely won’t be back above freezing until Tuesday afternoon and with a long duration SN❄️W it will stick around through most of next week.

…Speaking of next week, the NEXT round of wintry weather looks to hit middle of next week. Followed by you guessed it ANOTHER reinforcing shot of Arctic Air later next week into next weekend for the third weekend in a row!!! Told y’all Mother Nature was spoiling us in early January with those near record highs!
