Joe’s 4-Day EMOJI 4-Cast features: 💦☔️🌊

From Record C🥶LD mid/late January to Record Warmth first week of February, now we are facing the potential of Record Rainfall for your Valentine’s week.

⚠️ Messy Tuesday Ahead — Read All About It: 🧊

I was waiting to post this Emoji-cast to see if the NWS office was going to expand the Flood Watch. I have issued a Joe Knows #TNwx Alert for flooding concerns to keep you in the know.

⚠️2pm UPDATE: All of east TN in a FLOOD WATCH Tuesday — Thursday Morning. ⚠️

After a calm, but cool Monday. Precipitation moves in tonight, mainly after midnight. Wintry mix is possible in the TN mountains / SW VA from 4am till 9am Tuesday. Some will see mostly all SN❄️W NE of Abingdon into the Roanoke Valley. Icing is likely across the High Country of N.C. some areas could pick up over a quarter of an inch of ice.

🌨️WINTER WINTER WX ADVISORY Carter, Johnson and into SW VA. As heavier precip moves in around dawn it could mix briefly at times even in the metro of the TRI, but most in the valley will remain liquid. 💦Unicoi, Carter and Johnson Counties could see a bit more mixing and there could be some slick spots early on, mainly before 10am. As temps rise above freezing it will turn to a cold rain area wide, but remain frozen in the High Country, northward to the Roanoke Valley. Minor ice/SN❄️W accumulation elsewhere.

🌊The big story will be the rounds of heavy rain. Rain picks back up Tuesday evening into early Wednesday morning. Followed by a lull in the activity Wednesday afternoon. By Wednesday evening, more rain arrives, locally heavy at times through early Thursday. Brief break Thursday afternoon into your Valentine’s Day outside of a few isolated showers it should be mostly dry.

💦Then, a weekend storm system brings strong gusty winds to our neck of the woods. Due to saturated soils trees could come down onto power lines as we could see gusts over 60mph (early call), especially wind prone areas. More heavy rainfall Saturday evening into Sunday could lead to an additional 2+ inches. Total rainfall this week, through Sunday could be on the order of 5”-8”. Horrible news after the horrific flooding last fall. Elevated risk of flooding means be storm ready, have an evacuation plan if you live near a flood prone area and never drive through a flooded road; always Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

Average High in the TRI: 50° and Average Low: 28°.
