Bad News, SN❄️W Lovers — #MeltDown Literally!

>>Last Wednesday, Jan. 22nd, 🥶 We had a morning Low: 4° and this time of the day I was still splashing hot water around to watch it vaporize in the cold, Arctic air.

>>This Wednesday, Jan. 29th, 🥵 We’re already at “double nickels” as I used to say on TV. 55° in the TRI.

Yes, it’s good for the soul to see sunshine, and feel the warmth on our skin, however our window of a good area wide winter storm is closing because of the higher sun angle.

>>Future-cast: Looks so similar to that of last year!

Rewind back to 2024: If you recall last year, we had a sloppy/slushy couple of inches, some saw more mid-Jan; followed by a big blast of Arctic air. Once the jet stream rose late in the month it never truly came back down south of the Ohio Valley giving us several storm systems with lots of rain that produced anywhere from a half inch to inch at a time into March. 💦

Outside of the “Many/Mini Winters of Spring” as I call them, we couldn’t turn Winter back around for a decent SN❄️Wfall. Those similarities are strikingly close to how the pattern is going to work out again this year as well. Sadly for SN❄️W Lovers, the #JanuaryThaw is well underway this week and locally heavy rain develops Thursday evening into Friday.

Several more wet weather makers will move in over the next couple of weeks. Joe Knows is going out on a limb here to say NO MORE Winter Storms now through Valentine’s Day. Some of those aforementioned rain storms could start as a wintry mix mainly NE of the TRI-metro, but no widespread plowable events are expected for the next couple of weeks.

>>Final Note: How do you feel about the possibility of an early spring?? Y’all know by now, I LOVE wives tales and Southern Appalachian Folklore. That said, a lot of skunk sightings can indicate an early spring arrival! I know I’ve seen my smelly fair share on Green Pond Rd. recently. Shoo-Wee! 🤧

~Time for this Cup to go take his spring seasonal allergy meds! Peace, Love and Think SN❄️W, y’all!

Thanks so much for all your trust each season! 🙌🏻
