MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. — An evacuation order for a wildfire burning in McDowell County was lifted after crews made progress battling the fire that damaged a home and destroyed other structures. Officials said the Crooked Creek Fire had burned about 250 acres and was 55% contained.
⚠️WIND ADVISORY — Mountains and foothills of east TN. this evening and tonight. Winds could gust over 40 mph in the foothills, and upwards of 60 mph in the mountains and wind prone areas.
💦Rainfall moves in mid-afternoon, possibly about the time kids get out of school, especially for our western counties along I-81. Downsloping winds could keep parts of Unicoi, Carter and Johnson Counties drier longer. Rainfall could be locally heavy tonight with some areas picking up over an inch between this afternoon and Friday morning.
